Sure, it wasn't really what I expected (ie not a huge lot of details or photos of their homes), but it was a very entertaining read nonetheless.
Some of the facts I learnt?
- Benito Mussolini - 'had sex with a different woman almost every single day from September 1929 until the collapse of the Fascist regime in July 1943.' His wife 'often shouted at her husband and mocked him in front of the children. In fact, Mussolini's domestic arrangements - a hot-tempered wife, several mistresses, five children and a farm - are so stereotypical they could be taken from an Italian sitcom'{...}
- Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife were obsessed of germs and carried bottles of special alcohol at all times to disinfect their hands. When visiting the Queen of England, they also brought a personal food taster to make sure they wouldn't be poisoned.
- Imelda Marcos owned between 1200 and 4000 pairs of shoes.
- Idi Amin had 30 children, while Jean-Bedel Bokassa - about 62.
Think I will go for Dictators' Dinners next. This one sounds quite fascinating as well!
